about Me

I grew up in Belen, NM, and spent much of my time outdoors. I rode horses, explored Jarales on my bike. I once found a hidden orchard and poached the sweetest apples from it.

We were definitely working class when I was growing up, which in turn led me to strive for upward mobility.

I spent my summers helping my dad on a ranch in the Gila Wilderness, and would travel miles and miles on horseback in some of the wildest and most rugged wilderness that still exists. I worked hard and gained a ton of experiences. Many memories chasing cattle going 30+ mph on horseback, flying down mountains and dodging trees. That rugged upbringing hardened me and made me capable of ruggedness, but gave me an appreciation for the soft as well.

That ruggedness would come in handy when endometriosis would knock me down and make me a shell of the person I wanted to be because the never ending pain overwhelmed me. If you want to know that full story, please read to the very end. I’ve also linked endometriosis/adenomyosis resources to Nancy’s Nook and iCareBetter which were pivotal to me receiving the care I needed to survive.

I’d consider myself an renaissance artist. I attended college at New Mexico Technical Institute of Mining and Technology have a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science and Engineering, and have many technical skills. I participated in many fine arts classes as electives such as stained glass, glass slumping, metal work and lapidary, clay sculpture and wheel turning. In High School, I was first chair of the All-State band and jazz on the Tenor Saxophone and the tenor saxophone. If I had a group to play with, I’d love to pick it back up, but especially the saxophone is so lonely playing alone. I hope to have a large kiln and a potters wheel so I can continue to grow my skills in that area, but for now I am focused on painting.

I ran a very successful Dungeons and Dragons campaign for a group of friends that lasted over a year and came to a satisfying conclusion. I’m an avid consumer of all kinds of fiction (books, video games, TV and movies) and am a pretty good storyteller, although I do prefer Dungeons and Dragons as my creative outlet for that as I prefer to world-build more than any other aspect of writing.

I also play a bunch of Magic the Gathering! It’s honestly a lot like programming.

I started brewing my own mead in November 2022 and am pretty pleased with my batches so far.

I am very politically aware and engaged, and have a lot of very strong opinions.
Overall, making art has helped me be more mindful and more able to stop stressing about the very scary things facing our world today and to continue healing and improving as a person.
